Peaceman Pete Returns!

Peaceman Pete returns to KILR Radio!

Pete had his 1960's comeback show tonight, and it turned out great! We're glad to have him back on the air with us, chillin', and sharing all of his fond memories of the 60's. He's got a great mix of music that will be hard to find elsewhere.

Pete has decided to take his chillin' to another level and is only going to his one hour show on Friday nights at 6pm Pacific. Doing it four times a week was a bit much for him, and Pete says he can focus on putting out more fun and laid back show on Friday instead.

It's a great show to chill out with when you are home on Fridays!

Time to start rotating in new power albums!

Yes, it's time to start rotating some of these albums out of our high rotation and replace them with new ones. Some of these we have had up for a few months while still broadcasting with Loudcaster. That being said, we've replaced one of the ten albums with Pitbull's latest offering, "Planet Pit". It's a symphony of techno, dance, hip hop, and just plain fun. If you like energetic music, then you'll get a blast out of the songs from his album. All tracks have been added into high rotation, along with the other 9 albums we have up. Keep coming back to our blog, and we'll let you know of other albums we'll be putting into rotation!

KILR FM moves to Live365!

It was a tough decision, but it was time to say farewell to our first network server - Loudcaster. Although, there were many great ideas behind the tools they were developing, it just wasn't giving the exposure we wanted our station to have around the world.

With the recent success of "KILR Hitz", we've decided to join our sister station and move the station over to Live365 where the listeners are.

Live365 is one of the major contenders in internet radio, and strives to be at the forefront of this radio revolution. KILR FM wants to be right there also. You can read more information about them here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live365

KILR FM will have two different variety formats for your entertainment pleasure:

1) We'll be broadcasting LIVE from 3am to 9pm Pacific with the same great variety mix we had on Loudcaster. Nothing will change, in fact, it will improve immensely. This broadcast will be commercial free.

2) From 9pm to 3am overnights and all weekend, we'll be focusing more on Classic Rock and Oldies with a touch of some modern day hits. This broadcast will be ad-supported by Live365 and its sponsors.

Naturally, the schedules will change as we bring back our other DJ's.

We have also begun rebuilding our website, and making it more visually interesting. Our goal is to make it a fun place to hang out. Check it out here:

KILR FM undergoing reconstruction and the new KILR Hitz

We haven't had a blog on here for awhile. If you've been listening to KILR FM lately, you may have noticed some changes. We have been making some reorganizational changes to how we play music and soon we'll be making some server changes as well.

We have been testing out live broadcasting for the past couple of weeks to great success. It has allowed us to maintain the wide variety of music we have, but enable us to balance it more effectively over each hour. The result is a more enjoyable experience with the music.

Since we are making these changes, all previous DJ's are taking a break to rework their shows including myself and Demonslover. We will all be making a comeback, but will be doing it when we are ready and able. The KILR website is also tied into this, since it will be going through some major reconstruction as well. Our goal is to kickstart the website up to the next level of "professional" radio. Professional as in quality, not as in profit. Believe me, we are not making money out of this. It's done for fun and the love of music.

We are also in contact with independent artists and bands across the world to help promote their work as they promote us. Big things are in store for KILR FM and you, our KILR Kommunity!

One great piece of news is the success of our brand new, sister station "KILR Hitz". We began this station on Live365 as a trial, and in its first month it has jumped in the ratings from #72 to #30 in the Top 40 category. "KILR Hitz" is more focused in its variety of music by only playing Number One hits from the Billboard Hot 100, European Hot 100, and number one hits from across the world from the 1940's to the present. It's success has been inspirational as we consider moving KILR FM to the Live365 network as well.

All of us will be back on the air soon, and we might even add some new personalities to the KILR Krew!

Keep on rockin'!

Or boot-scootin'...

Or moonwalkin'...

Hey, we play it all! :-)

Jimi Hendrix featured on KILR FM as a Power Album

It's been a little bit since the last blog.

With some inspiration from our latest DJ, Peaceman Pete, and our longtime DJ, Howlin' Wolfman, we decided to add a new Power Album in rotation all the way back from the 60's.

It's the huge, debut album from Jimi Hendrix -- Are You Experienced. Now you can be experienced by all the great music from this album and hear tracks you'd never hear on other stations.

Tune us in and get experienced!

June Additions: KILR Kidz Klub, Sunday Sabbath Block, Hippin' 60's

Tons of updates to KILR FM since the last time I posted!

The first new addition is with my daughter, Lucy Marie. You may have heard her on my "Super Radio Show". She now has her own show on Saturday and Sunday mornings at 7am PST called "The KILR Kidz Klub". It's a one hour show featuring kid friendly music from cartoons, Disney and other family movies, children shows, children pop icons, and the Kidz Bop Kids. It's a neat show, and a good portion of these songs only play during her show. So tell your kids about it, tune in, and get in touch with your "inner child". :-)

Our next new addition is The Sunday Sabbath Block. Sunday should be a day of rest and relaxation from all the other crazy days of the week, and now you can tune in to KILR FM and have uplifiting music to listen to. Starting at 8am PST after The KILR Kidz Klub, you will hear an hour each of music from the 1920's and then the 1930's. We then take a break at 10am, and we play a six hour stretch of nothing but Christian music which covers Rock, Gospel, Country, Hip-Hop, and Contemporary Classics. Afterwards at 4pm, we go back to the past and pick up where we left off from the morning. We play an hour of the 1940's followed by an hour of the 1950's when Rock 'N' Roll was born! It's a fantastic day to hear music from a long time ago and then hear how it progressed over the decades! Not only that, but you've got spiritually uplifting music to listen to for six hours that we don't play on any other day! You'll be amazed by the Christian music too, because it's quite enjoyable and doesn't feel like you are sitting in church all day. Don't forget that we end the night off with Kowgirl Katie and her KILR Kountry at 6pm!

Our final new addition is of a new DJ who comes to us from Nashville, TN. He may not have an accent, but he is totally laid back. Welcome, DJ Peaceman Pete! He'll be doing a one hour show four times a week called "The Hippin' 60's". What's neat about this show is you get to hear everything from the 1960's whether it is the early part of the decade or the latter part of the decade. The 60's had two different styles of Rock, which you don't normally hear blended together. Not so on Pete's show, plus he'll share his own memories of the 60's with you! You can check him out at 12pm PST on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Why not Wednesday? Well, I have this tiny little radio show that runs for a few hours that day. Besides, Pete likes having a day off in the middle of the week. :-D

We got more stuff planned in the coming months, so make us your favorite radio station and grow with us!
